The Civil Process Division of the Geary County Sheriff's Office is responsible for but not limited to the service of:
All Subpoenas, orders to appear, and citations of contempt issued by the District Court. Subpoenas, orders to appear, and citations of contempt issued by foreign jurisdictions on Geary County residents.
Summons issued by the court, and any foreign jurisdiction for Geary County resident.
Eviction notices on Geary County residences. The Civil Process Division is responsible for serving all the same process on Ft. Riley, along with Orders of Protection.
The Civil Process Clerk separates, enters into computer and distributes all civil paperwork received from the court each morning. Also takes civil papers out of computer system once served. Assists the warrants clerk with entering, validating and clears misdemeanor warrants in and out of Kansas Hot Files. Also enters, validates and clears Registered Offenders and Protection Orders in and out of NCIC. Also assists with warrants clerks duties when warrants clerk is not available.
The warrants clerk enters all active warrants in our in-house computer system as well as enters them into NCIC (National Criminal Information Center). Validates warrant entries once a month. Clears warrants out of in-house system and NCIC once the subjects are arrested on said warrants. If subjects are arrested out of state and are to be extradited back to Kansas; takes care of getting paperwork ready for the Sheriff to make transport arrangements. Makes arrangements in the absence of the sheriff. For the sheriff sales; schedules all sheriff sales and gets the files ready for the sale. Takes down bids on day of sheriff sale, also assists on County Tax Sales when they occur.
